It doesn't get much better than this in Düsseldorf. On the legendary Ratinger Straße, just a few steps away from the cult club Ratinger Hof, you will find the city's oldest schnapps bar, the self-proclaimed House of a Hundred Schnapps.

So you have to be a bit of a drinker to visit this institution. The first high-proof drink was poured in the Kreuzherrencke in 1954, and since then the mixed crowd of art academy students, lawyers, musicians and night owls has never been left high and dry. Especially recommended: The house infusions with garlic, ginger or black pepper. The so-called Peperoni Schnapps, made with chilli, is only for advanced drinkers. It can turn brave connoisseurs into fire-breathing monsters.
