Information for riders
The Münsterland Riding Route leads through the Metelener Heide. Riders and their horses can expect paths close to nature. The designated riding route leads from Metelen towards Rheine or Ochtrup/ Gronau. On the more than 1000 kilometres of riding routes you can experience the nature and culture of the Münsterland from horseback.
Information for cyclists
Metelen is located in the Steinfurter Land, in the middle of the Münsterland park landscape surrounded by forests, meadows and small streams. The Metelner Heide is located between Steinfurt and Metelen and offers numerous possibilities as a starting point for cycling tours.
Various themed cycle paths offer interesting cycling tours through the Münsterland. The signposted themed cycle routes each show special contents of the region and thus tell exciting stories about Münsterland. One such themed cycle route also leads through the Metelener Heide:
100 Castles Route, North Course.
The Aa-Vechte Tour is not far away. The entrance to the Münsterland cycle path network, which is around 4500 kilometres long, is at the DinoZoo Metelen.

Arrival
The Metelener Heide is located between Metelen and Burgsteinfurt.
Getting there by car:
Metelener Heide can be reached via the B70 trunk road.
There are connections to the A31 motorway (Emden - Bottrop), the B54 trunk road (Gronau - Münster) and the A30 motorway (Rheine - Bad Oeynhausen).
Arrival by bus and train:
Metelen Land" railway station, railway line: Münster - Enschede.

Bus line 171 Metelen-Steinfurt, connection to "Metelen Land" station, "Heide" stop
Suitable starting points for walks through the Metelener Heide are Plagemanns Mühle in the centre of Metelen, the Dino Zoo or Metelener Land railway station.

Parking spaces are available in the centre of Metelen, at the Metelener Land railway station or at the Dino Zoo.
