The municipality of Augustdorf with the highlight AUGUSTDORFER DÜNENPFAD
A heath landscape of unique beauty developed on the sand of the Augustdorf dune field. On the short circular trail, you will discover the typical flora and fauna of the Senne dunes. You will also learn about the history of landscape use: ponies and cattle still graze here today, helping to preserve the picturesque heathland.
Senne and Augustdorf - an inseparable connection. From here, there are numerous excursion options on foot or by bike into the breathtakingly beautiful landscape all the way up to the Hermannshöhen. Enjoy expansive views, blooming heathlands, unspoilt forests, deep stream gorges and the dunes of the Senne as well as the beech-covered mountain ranges of the Teutoburg Forest.
Augustdorf was founded in 1775 by Count Simon August zur Lippe and is home to the Senner horses as well as the former stud farm and Lopshorn hunting lodge.
Today, Augustdorf is a modern municipality with a good infrastructure and a very varied, unique landscape.
