At 123 meters, the LVA high-rise is one of the most striking buildings in Düsseldorf. It has dominated the cityscape since 1978 and is the headquarters of Deutsche Rentenversicherung Rheinland. What many people don't know is that several films were shot there.
Built from 1972 to 1978 according to plans by renowned architect Harald Deilmann, the LVA high-rise was once the tallest building in the city with a height of 123 meters and 29 floors - until the completion of the ARAG Tower. The second tallest high-rise building in Düsseldorf consists of three interconnected towers, giving the building a unique silhouette. The building is the headquarters of Deutsche Rentenversicherung Rheinland, formerly Landesversicherungsanstalt Rheinprovinz, whose abbreviation LVA gave the high-rise its name. A visitors' terrace was set up on the 23rd floor, where various film shoots with Götz George and Rainer Werner Fassbinder took place. George was on location several times, for example for the “Schimanski” series.
