    The varied and lonely tour for sporty mountain bikers and sporty everyday cyclists - also with E-MTB - in the heart of the Teutoburg Forest Nature Park.

    We take you from the starting point at the ADFC station in Bad Meinberg along small, hidden paths and trails from the Werretal valley to the ridge of the Remmighauser Berg and down into the Wiembecke and Berlebecke valleys. On varied forest paths, we climb the Grotenburg castle with the famous Hermann monument, the symbol of the myth of the Varus Battle of 9 AD in the Teutoburg Forest.

    After the lively hustle and bustle around the tourist highlight, we take you into the vast, secluded forests of the Winnfeld, climbing steep hollow paths, cycling up and down wide forest roads and enjoying the forest landscapes with small valleys. After crossing the "Gauseköte" pass road, we circle the upper Langenberg with its surprising views and reach the historic "Kleiner Rigi" pass crossing with the "Hohlweg" archaeological excavation. Whether this was already used in Roman times 2,000 years ago has not yet been scientifically proven - but there are indications.

    After a steep descent, we roll towards the Externsteine cultural and natural monument, enjoy a refreshment stop at the Felsenwirt and find out about the historical and cultural significance of the rocks.

    On small paths, we cycle around the old town of Horn, our tour suggestion takes you to the Napte valley with the historic healing moor extraction of Bad Meinberg, as well as back to the starting point in the Werre valley.

    A detailed, written description of the route is not possible due to the many unmarked paths, forest tracks and agricultural roads.

    The following villages are located along the route:

    Bad Meinberg - Eikernberg - Remmighauser Berg - Hornoldendorf - Heiligenkirchen - Unter der Grotenburg - Hiddesen - Heidental - Grotenburg - Hermannsdenkmal - Denkmalstraße - Kastanienallee - Randweg Truppenplatz Senne - Winnfeld - Gauseköte, Passstraße L 937 - Großer Langenberg - Passübergang Kleiner Rigi mit Hohlweg - Externsteine - Horn - Naptetal mit Moorgewinnungsanlage - Bad Meinberg.

    The ADFC recommends the "BVA Radwanderkarte im Kreis Lippe 1:50,000 - ISBN 978-3-87073-628-6" for local orientation.

    • The forest trails in the Teutoburg Forest are generally very easy to navigate

    • Damage / obstructions / road closures may occur due to seasonal weather events or forest maintenance work
      • .
    • The NRW State Forestry Act must be observed. This has been observed when planning the route.
      • The "Hermannshöhen" hiking trail is off-limits on the ascent from Heidental to the Hermannsdenkmal.
    • The downhill route at the Hermann monument is not suitable for normal cyclists.
      • The author accepts no liability for the accuracy of the tourist information / links and the GPX track.
    • The Senne military training area may not be entered or driven on.
    • Reception of mobile phone networks is restricted or not possible in parts of the Teutoburg Forest, please note this when using non-outdoor GPS devices.
    A simple MTB is sufficient. Alternatively: E-MTB.

    A spare inner tube and air pump should not be missing in the lonely wide forests in the Teuto region.

    A full drinks bottle is recommended.

    Horn - Bad Meinberg can be reached via the Bundesstraße 1 "Hameln <> Paderborn - Exit Bad Meinberg" and via the Bundesstraße 239 "Detmold <> Höxter".

    From the federal road 239 Bad Meinberg to the public parking lot via the signs "Kurgebiet Nord"

    The free parking lot is located at the junction of "Brunnenstraße / Hamelner Straße", from there it is about 350 m to the starting point in the traffic-calmed center of Bad Meinberg.

    Next train station: Horn - Bad Meinberg.

    From there, continue by bus to the public transport stop:

    Horn - Bad Meinberg, Bad Meinberg bus station.

    From there, the ADFC bike station is signposted with the "Bike-Rent" sign.
