The "Sculptures along the way" circular trail promises a varied walk through Bleiwäsche, designed with handmade art objects made of clay.

In Bleiwäsche, the southernmost district of Bad Wünnenberg, 14 handmade clay sculptures now enrich the approx. 6 km long circular trail through the mining town. The art objects were created at the Bleiwäsche youth art school by a total of 24 children, teenagers and young refugees under the guidance of Vera Albrecht and Ria Kortekaas and placed along the path. They connect the barbecue hut at the sports field, the Wanderzwergenhütte, the Schweinskopf and the "Knippeblick" at the gateway to the Sauerland and offer a varied walk thanks to their creative design. The start and finish of the circular trail is the village square at the church in Bleiwäsche.

This family-friendly tour takes you around 6 km through the southernmost village in the district of Paderborn. You start at the village square by the church. There are plenty of parking spaces here. You will find further tour tips around Bleiwäsche on the hiking board there. You will find the first work of art at the starting point. From the church, turn right and soon cross the main road. Here you will see the town's landmark, the "Bleiwäscher". Walk past it and continue straight on towards the Schützenhalle. Here you will find a barbecue area with a hiker's hut and artistically designed seating on the left behind the Schützenhalle. Walk back a short distance and then turn right past the Schützenhalle. You will pass the elevated tank with the next art object. Continue straight ahead onto a paved gravel path. Follow the "Waldroute" signs to the "Waldzwergenhütte". The creatively designed fence is certainly a highlight. Continue along the meadow path until you cross a small bridge on the left. After a short, steep climb, you reach the Birkeneck with another work of art. Then turn right up the tarred road and left at the first junction into the forest. Here you climb the Schweinskopf, a summit cross. Turn around and walk back to the small hiking parking lot at the edge of the forest. Here you follow a beautiful, natural path on the left along the forest route. Walk until you reach a wide gravel path at the edge of the forest. Follow this to the right in the direction of Schloßhotel Sophia. Before you reach the hotel, take the first turning on the tarred road to the left and walk slightly downhill towards the borehole. You will find another sculpture at the water basin. Then cross the country road and walk towards the quarry. Keep right at the crossroads and walk past the carpentry workshop to the side. The path leads slightly downhill until you turn sharp left and take a short, steeper ascent to a field cross. Continue right along the tarred road until a gravel path branches off to the left. Following the fence past the quarry, you will already see the "Knippeblick" hiking hut. In addition to loungers and seating, there is a spectacular view of the "Düstertal" quarry and the Sauerland. From the hut, walk straight back towards the village. You will find the next art object at the fire station and turn left there. Follow the road until you reach the meeting place, the former elementary school. Here you walk along the church back to your starting point.

No special equipment is required.

The view of the "Düstertal" quarry at the "Gateway to the Sauerland" is particularly worthwhile.

By car, drive from Brilon or Bad Wünnenberg along the B480 and turn onto the L956 towards Bleiwäsche.
On arrival in the village center, take the street "An der Kirche". The circular route starts and ends at the church.
