The influence of grazing on calcareous grasslands in the Lengerich quarries was analysed in a long-term study by the University of Münster. Grazing exclusion areas (so-called exclosures) were set up at various locations, where the vegetation was recorded every two years. For comparison, the flora outside the exclosures, where the vegetation is exposed to grazing without protection, was also analysed.

Landscape ecologist Dr Denise Rupprecht will report on the interesting results and present some typical plant species of the rough grasslands. In addition, farmer Chiel van Dijk will lead the ANTL's travelling sheep herd across the Teutoburg Forest between Brochterbeck and Lienen. He will be there with his Bentheimer Land sheep and herding dogs and report on his experiences.
