The Aabach meanders through the landscape around Versmold and creates valuable habitats for numerous animal and plant species. Nutrias in particular have found a home here and leave their tracks along the banks. This free offer gives you the opportunity to explore the region in the company of DWV-certified hiking guides.
+++Start of registration: 17.03.2025+++
The Aabach combines nature and history Meadows, near-natural banks and historic mills accompany us along the route. The course of the stream serves as a habitat for numerous water birds, amphibians and insects. Nutrias have built their dens in several places - they are not indigenous, but have long been part of the Aabach landscape and leave visible traces. The "Old Salt Trail", a historic smuggling route, also crosses our path. At the northern border of NRW, we briefly cross the state border into Lower Saxony. In Versmold's town park, you can see the ecological enhancement of the Aabach stream - a valuable refuge for bats and other animals.
After completing the walk, there is the option to stop off at the Parkvilla restaurant on a self-pay basis. Please indicate this when registering.
