Visit to the school observatory
In connection with the "Protection of Darkness" lecture on July 6, we have the opportunity today to visit the Minden-Lübbecke school observatory, which will be newly built in 2024.
The school observatory at the Hiller Badesee is aimed at schools in the Minden-Lübbecke district and other educational institutions based here. Here, science lessons can be taught in a very practical way and integrated into all STEM subjects.
Pupils can experience astronomy up close and personal, make deep sky observations with powerful telescopes and evaluate everything at digital workstations with special software. This allows them to discover many scientific phenomena in our universe.
And it is also possible to participate in amateur-based research projects, such as Citizen Science. The location offers the best conditions for this: here at the Hiller Badesee lake, there is one of the lowest levels of light pollution in NRW compared to other locations.
