Brewery “Zum Schlüssel”

A good handful of breweries enjoy cult status in Düsseldorf - the “Schlüssel” with its main location on Bolkerstrasse in the heart of Düsseldorf Altstadt (Old town) is one of them.

The name of the brewery with its gastronomy goes back to a medieval tradition, as the key for the city gate was kept in a neighbouring restaurant. Even today, the key is still there - as a symbol in the logo of the brewery. And it seems that people still know how to brew good beer: Already twice, in 2012 and 2014, the brewery “Zum Schlüssel” was pleased to receive a worldwide renowned award, the “European Beer Star” in the category “Düsseldorf style Altbier”.
