It was in 1975 when the Wassilios Papassimos family decided to open a Greek speciality restaurant in Minden. Having learnt the ropes at renowned restaurants in Athens in the 1960s, Wassilios (Wassili) Papassimos tried to bring a piece of Greece to Minden.

Since then, the restaurant has firmly established itself in Minden. The "Alte Münze" with Wassili, Maria and their team is also known outside the city limits. Whether it is fate or coincidence that the oldest Greek restaurant in Minden, the "Alte Münze", is located in the oldest stone house in Westphalia is anyone's guess. Anyone who wants to enjoy exquisite lamb dishes, Greek casseroles based on old family recipes, fish dishes, international cuisine, Greek wines or simply a nice cold beer in a cosy atmosphere has made the right decision by choosing the "Alte Münze".
