Where are the busiest places in Aachen? Certainly, the Marktplatz, or market square, is one of them. The cafés and small shops are perfect for a gentle shopping stroll across the square in the heart of the city. During the evening, when the market square is bathed in the warm light of the setting sun, you can wind down at the end of the day with a glass of wine or an evening meal in one of the many restaurants and cosy bars. The square also does full justice to its name on Tuesday and Thursdays, when the Aachen weekly market is held here against the historic backdrop of the city hall.
