Tourist attractions – various

The Herrmann-Heusch-Platz is named after an Aachen post-war mayor.

There is quite a lot to discover on the Herrman-Heusch-Platz. The small fountain complex for the Paubach stream, for example, which was created by Benno Werth. The square is also home to the blue stone sculpture “Durch die Mauer” (“Through the wall”), which was created in 1985 by Heinz Tobolla. It was designed as a reminder of the division of Germany, which at that time was still a reality. On the way to the residential building complex, there is a real “Duemjroef”, or Aachen rascal, on the right-hand side, created by Hubert Löneke. The “Europaspirale” on the wall is by Manfred Bredohl, while to the right, there is a bust of Hermann Heusch himself. The children on stilts were created by Krista Löneke-Kemmerling in 1983.
