The Kapuziner Karree was opened right next to the theatre in 2002. Its mix of shops, gastronomy, beer garden and cinema makes it a popular place to go. A modern-style cinema complex with nine auditoriums has been added to the late 19th century building. A historic transformer station is located to the right next to the building. It is used by the Aachen Symphony Orchestra as a rehearsal room.
