Marienkapelle chapel

The "Marienkapelle" chapel stands on Gregorstraße street in Burtscheid.

The "Marienkapelle" chapel, known to locals as the “Kapellchen”, was built in 1643 at the initiative of the citizens of Burtscheid, the abbess of Burtscheid and the monk Peter Kerchof. Since it was built in honour of the “Madonna of the Scherpenheuvel”, the chapel in Burtscheid is also known as the “Small Scherpenheuvel”.
