Burtscheid is the popular, peaceful spa district of Aachen, with its own special charm and history.
The beautiful Burtscheid park grounds are perfect for a gentle stroll or relaxed picnic with the whole family. Wander along the pedestrian zone, which is an attractive place to enjoy the peace and quiet, with its cafés, restaurants and small shops. However, that’s not all that Burtscheid has to offer. Already during the 1st century AD, in “Porcetum”, as the site of Burtscheid was then known, the Romans discovered the hot springs and used them to soothe their ailments. This tradition has continued until today. A number of spa and bathing facilities have been built here, giving the city its title “Bad Aachen” (“Aachen Spa”).
