The Falkenbergsche Hof is one of the rare massive stone buildings from the Renaissance period;
The former town courtyard of the Provost tom Roden and later Corvey fief came into the possession of the Corvey Landdrosten von Falkenberg in 1535. In 1593, the estate was fundamentally remodelled and extended by Ludolph von Falkenberg. The stone tower with the spiral staircase and the magnificent Renaissance gable have been preserved from this period. The gable is one of the very few examples of stone Renaissance ornamentation in Höxter.
After the sale in 1664, the Corvey mint was located here from 1682 to 1690. In 1690, the mint master Johann Odendahl was arrested by Münster troops on behalf of the emperor for counterfeiting, which was tolerated by the abbey, and the mint was destroyed. After this, Corvey stopped producing its own coins and had them minted elsewhere.
The owner of this exemplary restored building is now St Peter's Abbey.
