Park/gardens

Tucked away and hidden in Rietberg's alleyways is the beautiful Drostengarten.

The so-called Drostengarten was created from a private garden area that had lain fallow for years and was overgrown with weeds, revealing nothing of the original layout. When the Drostenhaus next door, which had been uninhabited for years, found a new owner, the owner couple made it possible to design the small park and make it accessible to the public. The stately building was extensively renovated and now serves as a private residence. In the 17th century, at least two Drosten, the highest government officials of the former county, lived here. The park on the edge of the Klingenhagen, with the artwork "Full Moon" by Christiane Möbus, was professionally planned in the style of baroque garden design and is a gem in the heart of the vibrant old town.
