The Haus des Gastes and the spa gardens are the center of numerous events and activities offered to guests. The tourist information office is also located here.

The Haus des Gastes was once one of the old aristocratic manors in the town of Preußisch Oldendorf. The first documented mention of this former manor dates back to 1529, when a certain Johan von Schloen inherited the farm and watermill in Holzhausen from his father and turned it into his manorial residence. His family rebuilt the guest house in its present form in 1558. In 1586, the manor passed to the Steding family, who then transferred it to the von Oheimb family in 1812 for 1200 thalers.

Since 1981, the Holzhausen manor has served as a guest house for all spa and recreational guests and is owned by the town of Preußisch Oldendorf. At this time, the adjoining former estate water mill was also renovated and has been a popular excursion destination since 1983. On 2 floors, the completely barrier-free building comprises all the necessary rooms with a tourist office, fireplace corner, library, "quiet reading room", newspaper reading room, toilets, elevator, multi-purpose room, lecture room with 110 seats, lectern and screen as well as a large function room.
