The Südhemmern windmill is a historic rampart Dutchman that was built in its present form in 1880. The mill was originally designed as a wooden octagonal building around 1830. It is an important industrial monument and offers visitors an insight into the tradition of the miller's trade.

How the mill works
The windmill has one grist and one flour aisle, both of which are functional and equipped with a bag box. There is also a motorized grist mill, which supports the mill in times of low wind and ensures smooth operation.
Visitor facilities
The grounds of the Südhemmern windmill also include a bakehouse and other half-timbered buildings, which are used for visitor services. Here, guests can not only visit the mill, but also learn more about the history and workings of windmills.
Home parlor in the former miller's house
In the home parlor, which is located in the former miller's house, visitors can view various traditional crafts. These include flax processing, spinning, weaving, reep beating and cigar making. These activities offer an authentic insight into the life and work of people in earlier times.
