Monument

The monument, inaugurated in 1909, depicts Fritken Oberdiek, the last hand weaver in Herford, who still took his linen to the wholesaler in the city and sold it there himself. You can see him smiling mischievously as he counts out his money for the bales of linen he has sold. Until the 1960s, the Bowerre, which drove a mill and separated the old and new town, ran here.
