The Wall-Holländer was built in 1883 by Karl Kröger, the grandfather of the current owner. Originally, the mill was operated exclusively by wind power.
Conversion to motor power
In 1938, the mill was damaged in a storm when a wing broke. As a result, the mill was converted to motor power in order to continue operation.
Restoration and conversion in 1987
In 1987, the mill was extensively renovated as part of a restoration project. The mill tower was returned to its original height and a new hood and wind rose system were installed. In addition, new, wind-powered sails with a diameter of 23 meters were installed.
Current dimensions and performance of the mill
The current dimensions of the mill are as follows:
- Height: 16.5 m
- Diameter at the bottom: 9.5 m
- Diameter at the top: 5.5 m
The mill achieves an output of around 30 hp at wind force 6 to 7, with a blade rotation of 12 times per minute.
Paragliding at Struckhof
Since 2004, there has been an approved area for paragliders at the mill in Struckhof. The paragliding department is part of SV-Schnathorst. If the wind and weather conditions are right, you can watch the hustle and bustle both on the ground and in the air.
