Historic site Park/gardens historical building

The hunting lodge is considered Hövelhof's landmark and is a popular photo backdrop for a wide variety of occasions.

The origins of the municipality of Hövelhof are closely linked to the "Hövelhof", which dates back to at least the year 1000 as Hövelhof's original farm. The farmhouse stood in what is now Wichmannallee. The "Hövelhof" was first mentioned in a tax list in 1446. The farm burned down in 1903. As the owner of the "Hövelhof" at the time, Prince-Bishop Dietrich Adolph von der Recke built a hunting lodge on the farm in 1661. Around four acres were carved out of the "Hövelhof" estate for this princely complex. Today, the Hövelhof pastors live in the hunting lodge, which is why it is not possible to visit the inside.
