Haus Beck

Former ancestral seat of close relatives of the Danish royal family

Gut Beck is very old, it is recorded as a feudal estate as early as the 12th century. The Schleswig-Holstein-Sonderburg-Beck family - related to the Danish royal family and therefore to the Queen of England - held the estate until 1745. It was later taken over by the von Borries family and for almost 150 years, Haus Beck and Ulenburg Castle belonged to the same owners.

In 1899, Friedrich Blomeyer acquired the estate and lands. His son Alfred Beck (1900 - 1969) was a very active representative of the agricultural profession and a member of the Parliamentary Council in Bonn in 1949. He was particularly committed to ensuring that the agricultural sector was given strong consideration, for which he (successfully) called for a separate federal ministry. The Blomeyer family still runs Gut Beck, which is now part of a large joint agricultural enterprise.

The main house, built in 1648 and still very well preserved today, is privately owned and can therefore only be viewed from the outside.
