Nature discovery trail nature experiences - various

The "Lippeniederung between Bad Lippspringe and Mastbruch" nature reserve stretches along both sides of the Lippe.

The nature reserve "Lippeniederung zwischen Bad Lippspringe und Mastbruch" is around 160 hectares in size and stretches along both sides of a five-kilometre section of the River Lippe. In this area, the Lippe shows an interesting alternation between steep and flat banks. You can also still see the remains of the former rafting industry: ditches that were used to flood the meadows in order to irrigate them on the one hand and fertilize them with the lime contained in the water on the other.

The nature reserve is home to numerous plant and animal species, some of which are endangered. For example, a total of 25 dragonfly species have been recorded. In addition, the damp locations and bodies of water are the habitat and breeding ground of numerous bird species, such as kingfishers, dippers, whitethroats and lapwings.
