Chapel at the former hospital

The chapel was built on monastic land in 1661 according to plans by the Herzebrock monastery secretary Heinrich Loerdemann   This required the approval of the abbess Maria von Amerungen. In 1678, the Iburg abbot Marus Rost, who had spiritual oversight of the Herzebrock monastery, consecrated the altar. In 1706, the monastery received the chapel as a gift from the founder's heirs. Until the most recent restoration, an inscription above the west portal commemorated this.

Originally, the chapel had three entrances, of which only the western one has remained since it was converted into a hospital chapel in 1901. The round-arched portal is framed by two columns crowned with a sphere.

The chapel can only be viewed from the outside.
