Historic transport | Bergische Museumsbahnen e. V.

Nature and technology hand in hand – that is the motto of the tram museum. In fact, as you travel deep into the forests of the Kaltenbachtal and up to Möschenborn, it is easy to forget that you are in the heart of a densely populated industrial landscape here.

The tram line through the Kaltenbachtal, which connects Solingen with Cronenberg, was completed in 1914 by Barmer Bergbahn AG. The trams transported freight until the 1930s. Today, the track, which was taken out of service in 1969, is operated with all manner of historic vehicles by the association Bergische Museumsbahnen e. V.

Highly detailed and restored original trams, which rumble and screech their way through the landscape, await you. Along the route, you can always hop off, go for a walk or visit the historic Manuelskotten grinding workshop, where the grinders still work just as they did back in the day.

Good to know: You can regularly visit the tram museum’s train yard on the Kohlfurther Bridge in Wuppertal. The museum trains always operate from April to October. More information can be found on the website.
