Nature discovery trail

Among mighty forest giants | Arboretum Burghol

In the Burgholz State Forest, known as the Arboretum (“arbor” comes from Latin and means “tree”), tall guests from all over the world stand in an area measuring around 250 hectares in the heart of the native beech forest. The planting of unknown tree species began here as early as 1900 in order to investigate their suitability for native forest management. It is thanks to this that you can now discover over 130 deciduous and coniferous trees from three continents along four different themed routes. More information can be found on the website.
