History information

Loburg Castle was first mentioned in 1294. In the 15th century it was partially fortified and around 1760 it was rebuilt into a Baroque pleasure palace according to the plans of the master architect Johann Conrad Schlaun. After a severe fire, it was rebuilt in neo-baroque style from 1900 to 1902. Today, Loburg Castle houses a school with boarding school, which is why it cannot be visited from the inside. The historic rhododendron stands in the castle park still bear witness to the English garden laid out in 1903.
