History information

Villa Winkel is located in Ochtrup's city park and is an important testimony to the city's textile history. The magnificent neo-Renaissance building was built at the end of the 19th century. The Laurenz family of textile manufacturers used Villa Winkel as a representative family residence and commissioned the Münster architect Hubert Holtmann to build it. The family residence included a guest house, farm buildings and a greenhouse. In 1969, the town of Ochtrup bought the property from the Laurenz family. After extensive renovation, Villa Winkel is now a representative building of the town of Ochtrup with a wedding room of the registry office as well as the seat of the senior citizens' meeting place/café and the head office of the VHS and the music school association. The historic building and the town park are now used for various events.
