Public buildings – various Tourist information

Ahaus is a young town with tradition. Around 1000 years old, the cosy and at the same time varied little town is located in the western Münsterland near the Dutch border. The baroque moated castle of Ahaus, together with the adjacent pedestrian zone and market square, forms the heart of the town. The town centre is above all the cultural hub and venue of inviting events in Ahaus. The lively hustle and bustle during the weekly market is very reminiscent of our Dutch neighbours and gives the town a very special ambience.
But it is not only the town of Ahaus that is a unique experience, the surrounding nature is also just waiting to be discovered. High moors and juniper heaths characterise the landscape and make the region a great destination for hikers and cyclists. Nature lovers should definitely make a detour to the Witte Venn. This natural area stretches across both the German and Dutch sides.
