Old Herding Farm

In the glass museum at the old Herding farm in Coesfeld-Lette, visitors can admire various glass objects made of contemporary European glass. Regular temporary exhibitions present a selection of objects from the Ernsting Foundation's holdings as well as new acquisitions. Works by specific artists also regularly find their way into the exhibition. Close to the glass museum there is also a glass depot and a glass garden where other collections have found their place.

Tour information

The glass museum at the Alter Hof Herding and the glass depot at the Höltingshof are open on Wednesdays and Saturdays from 14:00 to 17:00. On Sundays, the facilities open from 11:00 to 17:00.

Guided tours can also be offered outside opening hours on request.

History information

The founder, Lilly Ernsting, built up a considerable private collection of glass objects over 40 years before the Glass Museum was opened in 1996. The museum now regularly presents temporary exhibitions of contemporary European glass from the private collection and from various artists.

In 2006, the founders of the foundation, Kurt (1929 - 2011) and Lilly Ernsting, opened the glass depot on the former Höltingshof in Coesfeld-Lette. The old estate is located across the street from the glass museum. Today, visitors can admire the entire private collection of the Ernsting family in the glass depot. In the course of the conversion of the Höltingshof, the surrounding grounds were also redesigned. The extraordinary glass garden was created. The former farmhouse of the Höltingshof has since housed a farm café.
