The Ibbenbüren Town Museum focuses on the history and development of the town of Ibbenbüren in the Tecklenburger Land region. The permanent exhibition of the town and local history museum highlights the history from the earliest settlement to a medium-sized town with around 50,000 inhabitants. Occasional special exhibitions deal in particular with individual topics relating to the history of the town of Ibbenbüren.

Information for cyclists
Ibbenbüren offers excellent conditions for cyclists. Centrally located in the Tecklenburger Land, there are numerous opportunities to explore the surrounding area from here. There is something for everyone here.
South of Ibbenbüren, cyclists encounter the foothills of the Teutoburg Forest. The hilly landscape with its rich forests offers wonderful distant views over the Münsterland region time and again. Popular destinations are the Bentlage Monastery in Rheine or the Gravenhorst Monastery in Hörstel. The historic old towns of Tecklenburg and Lengerich are also absolutely worth seeing and offer an exciting cultural programme. If you prefer to take it a little easier, use the wonderful cycle paths along the Dortmund-Ems or Mittelland Canal.
Various themed cycle routes offer interesting cycling tours through Münsterland. The signposted themed cycle routes each show very special features of the region and thus tell exciting stories about Münsterland. The following themed cycle routes run through Ibbenbüren:

The entrance to the 4500 kilometre Münsterland cycle route network is at Ibbenbüren's Aasee lake, on the southern edge of the town centre. The area around the Aasee is also perfect for a short stopover and a nice picnic.

Parking
There is no car park at the museum itself. The nearest public parking facilities are in the multi-storey car park at Neumarkt or on Breite Straße.
Arrival
Ibbenbüren is located in the northern Münsterland region between Rheine and Osnabrück on the Teutoburg Forest. The town museum is located in the town centre, near the railway station.
Getting there by car or bus:
Ibbenbüren is located on the A30 motorway. With connections to the A31, A1 and A2.
Take exit Ibbenbüren 11b. Follow the signs to the city centre/train station.
Arriving by train:
Ibbenbüren railway station is on the Osnabrück - Rheine railway line.
The walk from the station to the Stadtmuseum is only 200 metres.
