Museum for Westphalian Literature

The former knight's estate Haus Nottbeck in Oelde Stromberg is now home to the Museum of Westphalian Literature with a unique permanent exhibition and exciting events.

The Museum of Westphalian Literature is located in the courtyard of the former Haus Nottbeck manor. The exhibition deals with the literary history of Westphalia from its medieval beginnings to the present. The museum shows around 100 authors from the medieval monk to the current crime writer. A special focus is on the authors Annette von Droste-Hülshoff, Augustin Wibbelt and Christian Dietrich Grabbe. A real speciality is the "Cologne Bible", the first Low German Bible edition from the 15th century. The museum offer is rounded off by exciting multimedia stations about the different literary epochs and Westphalian radio plays to listen to.
