Museum/Exhibition

The West Prussian Provincial Museum is an exhibition centre for the history and culture of the historic region of West Prussia. The origins and development of the province from the late Middle Ages to its dissolution in 1945 are presented in lavishly designed rooms.

The provincial museum was built in 1975 and was originally constructed for the displaced and refugee West Prussians. The fact that the museum is located in Münsterland is due to the sponsorship between the displaced persons and the Landschaftsverband Westfalen-Lippe, which was established in 1960. In addition to the permanent exhibition, three to five special exhibitions are organised each year. These are often organised in cooperation with Polish partner institutions.
