Haltern Reservoir

The Haltern reservoir is not only a paradise for water sports enthusiasts, sun worshippers, cyclists and hikers also get their money's worth here.

The man-made Halten reservoir has been used for drinking water supply since 1930. The Stever and Mühlenbach rivers meet here. The lake is particularly popular with hikers and cyclists because it offers idyllic viewing and resting places. And, of course, beautiful paths: the shortest circular path covers about nine kilometres, and there are several other paths with different profiles around the lake.

In summer, weather permitting, guests can rent paddle boats, pedal boats, canoes and rowing boats and marvel at the numerous sailing boats. The 800-metre-long sandy beach, which is equipped with beach chairs, children's playgrounds and many play and sports facilities, bears the name "Seebad". Hikers and cyclists can stop here for refreshments. Various campsites and restaurants can be found in the immediate vicinity of the Haltern reservoir.
