Information for cyclists
Ibbenbüren offers excellent conditions for cyclists. Centrally located in the Tecklenburger Land region, there are numerous opportunities to explore the surrounding area from here.
South of Ibbenbüren, cyclists encounter the foothills of the Teutoburg Forest. The hilly landscape with its rich forests offers wonderful distant views over the Münsterland region time and again. Popular destinations are the Bentlage Monastery in Rheine or the Gravenhorst Monastery in Hörstel. The historic old towns of Tecklenburg and Lengerich are also well worth a visit and offer an exciting cultural programme. Those who prefer to take it a little easier can use the wonderful cycle paths along the Dortmund-Ems or Mittelland Canal.
Various themed cycle routes offer interesting cycling tours through Münsterland. The signposted themed cycle routes each show very special features of the region and thus tell exciting stories about Münsterland.

The signposted Münsterland cycle route network with its over 4500 kilometres of cycle routes runs along the northern side of the lake. The town centre and the railway station can be easily reached by bike. There is a suitable cycle route for everyone here.

The hikers' car park on Ledder Straße in Ibbenbüren can be used to visit the Aasee. The car park is excellent and easy to find.
Arrival
Arrival by car:
Take the A 30 (Amsterdam-Osnabrück) to the Ibbenbüren exit. Follow the road in the direction of the city centre. The Aasee is located before the city centre on the right-hand side.
Arrival by train:
The Aasee is about 1.3 kilometres on foot from Ibbenbüren railway station. There are regular trains to the station from Hengelo, Braunschweig, Bielefeld and Rheine.
