The Torfmoorsee lake in Hörstel is a popular destination for cyclists. Here you can relax in the shade of the trees on a nice summer's day during a stopover on your cycling tour. The grassy areas around the lake are also perfect for a picnic.
Nearby are great excursion destinations such as the "DA, Kunsthaus Kloster Gravenhorst" or Surenburg Castle. The city of Rheine is also not far away and offers a high recreational value with the Salinenpark and the Bentlage Monastery.
Many other excursion destinations and sights can be discovered via the themed cycle routes in the Münsterland. The following themed cycle routes run close to the Torfmoorsee lake:
100 Castles Route, North Course.
Everyone will find the right cycling tour on the 4500-kilometre Münsterland cycle path network.

There is a large pay and display car park for visitors at the Torfmoorsee.
Arrival
Lake Torfmoor is located near the A30 motorway in the northern Münsterland region between Ibbenbüren and Rheine.
Getting there by car:
A30 motorway, Hörstel exit.
Travelling by bus and train:
Hörstel railway station, Rheine - Löhne railway line.
Distance by bike: approx. 2.5 kilometres.
Arrival from Osnabrück main station with bus line F10 to Torfmoorsee in Hörstel, via Westerkappeln, Mettingen and Ibbenbüren.
