The 100-year-old Forsthaus Hohenroth, with its idyllic location in the middle of the forest of the Rothaar Mountains, is an exciting excursion destination for the whole family and for nature lovers.

At the beginning of the 20th century, this place was so lonely that the forester families couldn't last long there. Today it is precisely this closeness to nature and solitude that is the reason for many people to visit. The Forsthaus Hohenroth is located at the intersection of two ancient trade routes: the Eisenstrasse and the Kohlenstrasse.

The forest information center is the hub for the diverse events surrounding forestry, nature conservation, forest education and forest encounters. The joint project of the Waldland Hohenroth Association and the Siegen-Wittgenstein Forestry Office attracts numerous visitors every year to the forests of the source region of Sieg, Eder and Lahn.

Events, exhibitions, seminars and guided tours on forest-related and socially relevant topics are offered all year round. Interesting themed trails around the former forestry station invite you to discover nature. The game reserve is a great experience, especially for the little ones.

Anreise
Von Siegen oder Hilchenbach folgen Sie der B62 Richtung Bad Berleburg und biegen kurz vor Lützel auf die L722 Richtung Hainchen ab. Nach ca. 5 km Sie den Parkplatz Ederquelle, welcher auf der linken Seite liegt. Hier biegen Sie rechts ab und erreichen die Parkplätze (rechts).
Von Bad Berleburg oder Erndtebrück folgen Sie der B62 und biegen in Erndtebrück im Kreisel Richtung Benfe auf die L 720 ab. An der nächsten Kreuzung im Wald biegen Sie rechts auf die Eisenstraße (L722) Richtung Lützel ab. Nach ca. 2 km erreichen Sie den Parkplatz Ederquelle, welcher rechterhand liegt. Hier biegen Sie links ab und erreichen die Parkplätze (rechts).
Aus Netphen-Deuz kommend folgen Sie der L719 druch die Orte Grissenbach, Nenkersdorf und Walpersdorf. An der nächsten großen Kreuzung im Bereich der Siegquelle (rechts) biegen Sie links auf die Eisenstraße (L722) Richtung Lützel ab. Nach ca. 3 km erreichen Sie den Parkplatz Ederquelle, welcher rechterhand liegt. Hier biegen Sie links ab und erreichen die Parkplätze (rechts).

Parken
Bitte nutzen Sie die vor der Schranke eingerichteten kostenlosen Parkplätze. Ab dem Parkplatz ist die Zufahrt für den allgemeinen Kraftverkehr gesperrt. Von den Parkplätzen ist der ca. 300 m lange Fußweg zum Forsthaus Hohenroth ausgeschildert.

Öffentliche Verkehrsmittel
Mit der Regionalbahn RB93 fahren Sie bequem bis zum Bahnhof Lützel. Von dort können Sie wunderbar über den Rothaarsteig bis zur Ederquelle wandern (ca. 6 km). Ab der Ederquelle ist der Weg zum Forsthaus Hohenroth ausgeschildert (ca. 1 km).
