Morenhoven Castle was built in the 13th century, the foundation building as a farmstead was built earlier, as Wilhelm de Morinhovin is mentioned as early as 1229. From 1281, Morenhoven belonged to the fiefdom of Cologne and was subject to changing ownership. In the 14th century, the first gatehouse was built with a baroque dome and drawbridge, which led over the moat into the farmyard. A round arch bridge and the second gatehouse lead to the inner courtyard and the entrance to the castle. In 1682, the castle was converted into a baroque three-winged castle and in the middle of the 18th century, the interior was remodelled in beautiful rococo style. The castle is still surrounded by moats and a beautiful landscaped park. In 1803, the castle was sold to Joseph Jordans and has been in the Jordans family ever since. The interior of Morenhoven Castle was remodelled in the 18th century for residential and representative purposes and has been preserved to this day. Stucco work, panelling and impressive chandeliers from bygone times adorn the rooms. Here, guests can dine, celebrate and dance in a special ambience.
