Swisttal is located around 14 km west of Bonn and, as a large municipality, takes its name from the Swist, the stream that flows through the centre of the municipality. The remaining monasteries and castles still show that the fertile landscape between the Voreifel and the foothills was an economically important place to live in earlier times. Rolling fields of grain and lush green meadows still characterise the image of Swisttal today. Located in the centre of the Rhineland Nature Park, Swisttal offers a wide range of leisure activities with numerous cycling and hiking trails.
