Zeiss Planetarium Bochum: Up close to the stars

At the Zeiss Planetarium Bochum, visitors can immerse themselves in the infinite vastness of the universe and reach for the stars in the only full-dome planetarium in the Rhine-Ruhr region. Since 1964, audiences have been experiencing spectacular shows about the fascinating world of stars and planets under the planetarium dome on Castroper Straße in Bochum. Today, the modernized building with its Zeiss star projector is one of the best and most modern planetariums in the world and is equipped with a full-dome projection.

The so-called full-dome video system is the first to be able to fill the entire planetarium dome with a digital, moving image. The dome becomes a stage for the entire universe - with all its fascinating beauty and dynamics. The planetarium's varied program ranges from astronomy and music shows, live concerts and radio play performances to special shows for children, school classes and groups. The approximately 2,000 events attract more than 200,000 visitors to the Zeiss Planetarium Bochum every year, making it a crowd-puller for the entire region and the surrounding area.
