    DSV Nordic Aktiv Zentrum “Auf der Steinert” with ski hut & ski hire

    The “Auf der Steinert” cross-country skiing centre in Girkhausen with its cross-country trails has been expanded to create the DSV Nordic Aktiv Zentrum, which is managed by the Ski-Club Girkhausen e.V. 

    With machine-laid trails with circular routes 2.5 km, 3.5 km, 5 and 7 km long, the trails vary at altitudes of 660 to 720 meters. The trails can be entered above the ski hut on the Steinert and at the Albrechtsplatz car park; both places can be reached by car, and there is a bus stop at Albrechtsplatz.

    The signs indicating maximum ascent and descent gradients correspond to the German skiing association norm.

     

    At the weekend, stop by at the Ski-Club Girkhausen e.V. ski hut after your tour and warm up with a hot drink. In the middle of the outdoors, up on the Steinert, you can experience a ski hut like those in the Alps, with a unique atmosphere.

    Ski shoes, ski sticks and cross-country skis are available for hire for anyone interested in cross-country skiing.
    Shoes are available in sizes 32 to 46, with sticks from one meter to 1.60 m. Cross-country skis are offered in lengths of 1.40 m to 1.90 m.
    One day of snow fun costs €15.00, all-inclusive. A voluntary cross-country trail ticket is available at €4.00 in the ski hut or at the Bad Berleburg tourist information centre.

    Anreise
    From Bad Berleburg, take the B 480 northwards, then the L 721 to Girkhausen, approx. the village centre, turn left into the “Im Ermelsbach” road, follow the road straight ahead until you reach the ski hut on the right hand side.
    From Winterberg, take the B 480 southwards, Hoheleye, then the exit on the left hand side towards Girkhausen, then the L 721 to Girkhausen, approx. the village centre, turn right into the “Im Ermelsbach” road, follow the road straight ahead until you reach the ski hut on the right hand side.

    Parken
    There is a car park at the ski hut, with 120 parking spaces, while the Albrechtsplatz car park has 100 parking spaces.

    Öffentliche Verkehrsmittel
    Die Anreise mit öffentlichen Verkehrsmitteln ist nicht möglich!

    Due to the covid pandemic the DSV-Nordic-Active-Center is closed. Therefore please bear in mind that you will not find sanitary facilities in this area.


    In wintry weather and when the trails have been laid, the hut is open on Saturdays and Sundays from around 10am to 4pm.
