Grafenwerth Island

It belongs to Bad Honnef like Konrad Adenauer and the carnival: the island of Grafenwerth has been owned by the town of Bad Honnef for 100 years. The picturesque backdrop of the Siebengebirge mountains, the view of the Rhine and the island of Nonnenwerth, the extensive banks - for many, "the island" is a place of longing.

No wonder, the "jewel on the Rhine" has long been a particularly popular excursion destination far beyond the borders of the resort town, a meeting place for all generations. In short: Grafenwerth Island in Bad Honnef is THE urban green space in Bad Honnef. Even though it is an island in front of the city centre of Bad Honnef in the Rhine, it is the most important city park.

The northern park area is directly connected to the island access via the historic Grafenwerth Bridge and the ferry landing stages. A new circular path leads visitors to the northern tip of the island with a fantastic view of the course of the Rhine and the Drachenfels in the Siebengebirge mountains. In addition to a raised path protected from regular flooding, robust, unobtrusive concrete seating pebbles mark the immediate tip of the island. The central area is an extensive park adjoining the Grafenwerth leisure pool. To the south, behind the tennis courts of TC Rot Weiß, is the natural part of the island.
