The Cologne manufacturer family Farina, who owned Schloss Hagerhof in the 19th century, expanded the estate and laid out the extensive park.
The subsequent owner Franz Gustav Weyermann then had the manor house remodelled in the English Gothic style from 1865. Around 1900, Schloss Hagerhof was a popular cultural meeting place. Johannes Brahms also spent a few days here in 1896 after Clara Schumann's funeral and performed his Vier Ernsten Gesänge here for the first time.
