historical building Fortress/Castle

The idyllically situated moated castle is one of the most important architectural monuments in the Tecklenburg region. The castle itself is privately owned, so the grounds can only be visited from the outside via the moat. Nevertheless, the extensive grounds with old trees around the Surenburg are a popular destination for hiking, cycling and horseback riding.

Every year, many horse lovers are drawn to Riesenbeck to the Surenburg, because the area around the moated castle is the Mecca of German driving sport. National and international championships as well as the "Riesenbeck International" are held here.
