DIEDERICHSTEMPEL: TWO VIEWING PAVILIONS HIGH ABOVE THE WUPPER VALLEY

Bergisch romanticism above Müngsten Bridge Park

The Diederichstempel can be seen on its hill, towering above the Wupper, from as far away as the historic Napoleon Bridge in Müngsten. After a short hike to this special vantage point, you can take in a breathtaking view of the valley, the Wupper and the surrounding forests.

The Diederichstempel was commissioned by August Diederich, a wealthy citizen of Remscheid, in 1901. He ordered that the vantage point should be accessible to everyone at all times. The neo-Gothic building is heptagonal and covered with copper sheet.

Fantastic view over Solingen Burg
August Diederich had already had an octagonal structure built in the neo-Romanesque style near to Solingen Burg a few years earlier. The Diederichstempel Burg offers a wonderful view of Burg Castle and the Unterburg area.
