With their delicate proboscises, colorful butterflies sip juice from a cut pineapple. Afterwards, the fragile beings drift into the foliage of some plants in the butterfly house. In between, blue morpho butterflies elegantly glide through the air with their measured wingbeats.
A few steps further begins the wonderful world of butterflies. Sometimes calm and graceful, sometimes diving, the colorful butterflies flit about. Around 20 species are now present in Ahrhütte, including blue morphos from Costa Rica, Asian Papilios, gluttonous banana butterflies, and Canary Monarchs. Trend: increasing. Up to 500 butterflies are expected to inhabit Ahrhütte, with over 30 species from Asia, South and Central America, as well as native butterflies.
In the center of the facility, a waterfall cascades from a three-meter-high rock formation into a seven-meter-long, winding stream. A botanical garden in the outdoor area is open every year from May 1 to October 1. Special events such as art competitions for children and young people as well as art exhibitions are also offered there. Additionally, cultural events take place.
The Eifalia Butterfly Garden is completely accessible, and there are many seating areas in the tropical house.
Dogs are not allowed in the tropical house, but dogs are permitted throughout the entire outdoor area.
