After more than 300 years in family ownership, Castle Satzvey is still the home and ancestral seat of the Counts Beissel von Gymnich.

Burg Satzvey was built between 1396 and 1406 on an island in the middle of a large pond, through which the Veybach flows. The son of Max Felix Reichsgraf Wolff Metternich, who lived as the lord of Satzvey since 1878, stylistically expanded the castle to its current appearance. In 1944, the castle came into the possession of the family of the current owner, Franz Josef Graf Beissel von Gymnich jun., who has made Burg Satzvey known beyond the borders of the country through knight games and other historical events since 1981.
