The Dr. Axe Foundation promotes art and culture by maintaining its art cabinet at the Hasenberghof in Kronenburg (Eifel). The exceptional location of the paintings was chosen by the founder himself. The foundation purchases paintings from artists of the Düsseldorf School of Painting and publishes them in scientifically developed exhibition catalogs. The exhibitions are shown in the art cabinet and temporarily loaned to selected cultural institutions and museums. Because the collection aims not only to function academically but also to offer a wide audience a high-level enjoyment of art.

The Dr. Axe Foundation promotes art and culture through the maintenance of its art cabinet at Hasenberghof in Kronenburg (Eifel). The extraordinary domicile of the pictures was personally selected by the founder himself.

The foundation purchases paintings by artists of the Düsseldorf School of Painting and publishes them in scientifically elaborated exhibition catalogs.

The exhibitions are shown in the art cabinet and lent for a time to selected cultural institutions and museums. The collection is intended not only to work scientifically but also to convey the enjoyment of art at a high level to a broad audience.


The foundation was established in 1997 by Dr. Hans Günther Axe. Eleven years later, she inherited the life’s work of the founder, which she continues in his spirit. It is oriented toward a wide range of charitable and benevolent purposes that it fulfills according to binding guidelines set by the founder.

The foundation supports needy victims of violent crimes, grants financial aid to hospitals for the acquisition of medical devices and instruments, promotes art and culture, provides funding intended for research and teaching at German universities, is dedicated to elderly care, and promotes animal welfare. These manifold tasks are a living expression of the diverse interests and goals that were important to the founder and to which he dedicated his fortune for the benefit of the general public.

The Dr. Axe Foundation presents changing current exhibitions in its art cabinet at Hasenberghof in Kronenburg.

Admission and the guided tour are free of charge, and prior registration is not required.
